Details

Ideal material mix: Yarn made from 60% high-quality and traceable merino wool and 40% wood fibers.
Bio-based functional fibres: The fabric is very smooth and soft thanks to the innovative material mix and the special knit structure gives it a natural stretch. In addition, both the wool and the wood fiber offer excellent breathability and temperature regulation.
Chlorine-free finishing: The wool has been treated chlorine-free using an innovative processing method. This not only preserves the natural properties of the wool, but also makes it washable and suitable for tumble drying.
Production: Yarn from Austria, knitting factory in Lithuania.
Branding: Subtle apple leather logo patch (front, bottom left)

Material & care

MATERIAL

Raw material: Yarn made from 60% traceable and mulesing-free merino wool and 40% wood fibers (TENCEL™ Lyocell).
Fabric: Very soft and stretchy knit fabric. Breathable, temperature-regulating, quick-drying, soft and easy-iron.

CARE

Wash at 30° or lower
Use wool or delicates detergent
Do not use fabric softener
It is best to lay flat to dry out of the sun
Do not put in the tumble dryer
If necessary, iron at medium temperature
Do not bleach

sustainability

Wood fibers from sustainable forestry: The wood for the Tencel™ Lyocell fibers comes from natural forests and sustainably managed plantations. The fiber process recycles the water and returns over 99% of the solvent used back into the production cycle.
Fully traceable merino wool: The wool used is not only biodegradable and recyclable, but can also be traced back to its origin along the entire supply chain.
Yarn production and finishing standards: bluesign® approved, ZDHC and GOTS.

Impact Assessment

Understanding the true value of our clothes is fundamental to what we do. The more we know, the better decisions we can make. And the faster we can develop ourselves and our products. The Muntagnard Impact Assessment (MIA) is a simplified representation so that you can better understand and classify our products from a sustainable perspective. We want to reduce the complexity of sustainability to the aspects that are most relevant to us and communicate it as simply as possible.

Traceable

BLACK CIRCLE

Transparency along the supply chain is the central starting point for sustainability. The LEGNA Merino knit sweaters are traceable for both the wood fibers and the wool. The wood fibers are made in Austria and the superfine merino wool comes from Uruguay and is along their value chain.

BLUE CIRCLE

Here we evaluate the average of possible recyclability and biodegradability. The LEGNA Merino knit sweaters consist exclusively of bio-based materials, which is why they do not leave behind any non-natural substances when they biodegrade. However, recyclability is slightly limited, since wool (protein fibres) and wood fibers (cellulose-based) are somewhat more difficult to recycle.

In the eco-rating, we analyze CO2 emissions, use of chemicals, and energy and water consumption. From cultivation, fiber production, fabric & material production to the end product.
The LEGNA Merino knit sweaters impress with their naturally based fibers as well as the longevity and easy-care of the fabric. There are deductions mainly due to the generally very resource-intensive sheep's wool, which has a relatively high CO2 emission.
