Together for innovation and sustainability

From the beginning away on the wooden forest

Since the beginning of our product development, we have been using special “textile fibers made of wood” on a high -quality and sustainability component in our products. The "fibers made of wood" from our partner Lenzing, which have become known under the Tencel brand, have become a lucky hit for us - and accordingly our product portfolio is always expanded with this component. Against this background, of course, we also didn't hesitate to participate as Lenzing asked us as part of her campaign "Earth Month".

Along the entire value chain optimized sustainably

For us, we see the sustainability and quality of our materials from the raw material to the end product as a central authorization of Muntagnard. However, the textile value chain is extremely complex, demanding and complex - a fact that makes our development cycles of new products again and again. Nevertheless, we are not afraid to take this additional effort on ourselves in order to meet our own demands on transparency, sustainability and quality.

That is why we were happy to accept the invitation of our Austrian partner "Lenzing" in February 2020 in order to clarify our open questions about the extraction of textile fibers from wood and to better understand the processes using a production tour. After all, it is still astonishing for us how wooden fiber can be obtained from wood as raw material, which gives our T-shirt Legna this incredible lightness and silk softness.

Experience the production of our textile fibers at the place of origin

Our day at the Lenzing production facility started with a brief introduction to the various production steps in fiber production. We very much appreciated that we were able to clarify our detailed questions regarding the sustainability of the award -winning production process in a likeable conversation with Peter Bartsch, Head of Sustainability. We are impressed by how Lenzing, with holistic sustainability initiatives, wants to further improve the current exemplary status. Doris Overrath then brought us closer to the differently available fiber types and other innovations. Andreas Gürtler rounded off the discussions with exciting current developments in the "Active Wear" area.

After these workshops, we were able to enjoy a two -hour tour through the impressive factory premises. Through the direct participation of the crew of the wood to pulp production to fiber extraction, we were able to significantly sharpen our theoretical understanding of the effective processes.

T-shirt Legna returns to the origin

We were also pleased that our product, the T-shirt Legna, came across keen interest within the Lenzing company. According to Sylvia Happel and Jutta Schörghuber, with which we can regularly exchange ourselves as a partner, the T-shirt Legna should be the only one that consists 100% of their Tencel Lyocell fibers: from fabric to the details, such as the sewing thread Or the washing labels.

We very much appreciate that with Lenzing we have found a strong and reliable partner who shares our values in terms of sustainability and quality. We are therefore looking forward to working together in the "Earth Month" and the other collaborations.

A little tip for you: With the use of the hashtag #checkwhatsgood, you can quickly find other brand partners which Tencel use fibers. Of course, however, we can warmly recommend our T-shirt Legna. ;-)

If you have any further questions about our materials, production processes or products, please contact us contact@muntagnard.ch. Julianna or Aline will be happy to report to you.
