Our change of heart to the most used natural fiber

From the beginning of the Muntagnard adventure at Dario and I ignored cotton as possible material for our project. Yes, it is the most popular natural raw material in the textile industry, everyone loves their versatility, their comfort, durability and their affordable price. But the ecological and social effects in the entire supply chain are enormous (see, for example, here) And the lack of transparency is simply worrying. By completely avoiding cotton, we have put ourselves under pressure to find new and alternative solutions. The T-shirt Legna was the first direct consequence of this approach and might never have arisen.

Then we have finally found a cotton solution that offers high quality, traceability and transparency, here in Europe, not far from Switzerland. This changed our opinion - instead of ignoring cotton, we started to rethink cotton and to expand the boundaries for the next chapter of this amazing raw material. We discovered Supreme Green Cotton® From small family businesses in Greece. Our Greek partners developed a luxurious, long -stacked cotton that sets a new standard in the premium segment of the textiles: a fully traceable, sustainable innovation. This high -quality cotton is grown on small family businesses in Greece. The yarns are spun less than 200 km away from the cotton farms and transported from there to our fabric producer in northern Portugal, where they are processed into one of the most sustainable cotton fabrics in the premium segment. Production in Europe not only means optimized transport routes and higher environmental guidelines, but also stricter social standards that ensure the security and well -being of the workers involved. In contrast to his conventional counterpart, Supreme Green Cotton® is not generously changed, requires almost no pesticides and naturally holds the habitats. In addition, a special irrigation system is used that requires 40% less water, and all excess water is collected for reuse.

With the Product line Mangola (Romanesque for cotton) we face the challenge of finding a more innovative way to make the simplicity and beauty of cotton accessible and tangible. Our first Mangola product is the absolute classic that can be found in every wardrobe, a T-shirt with a circular neckline. To think of a classic T-shirt in a fundamentally different way is what Dario and I were striving for. The Mangola T-shirt is probably the most luxurious cotton t-shirt that you have ever held in your hands-and it is also quite sustainable. As a monofiber product, the T-shirt is completely recyclable and biodegradable and thus fits perfectly into our circulatory management model and of course in our already existing product family with Legna and Lana.

We are determined to rethink cotton in order to give it the recognition and the value she deserves. In fact, it is one of the most luxurious and valuable textile fibers that exist, and as soon as you have experienced our Mangola fabric, you know of us. With Mangola we offer an uncompromising cotton option in terms of quality, comfort and sustainability.

Even if the path to more sustainable cotton will be long, we are happy to start it with our first T-shirt Mangola.
