Muntagnard was born from a different kind of ambition.
Before founding the brand, we worked in sustainability and strategy consulting, advising Fortune 100 companies on how to optimize their supply chains, reduce their environmental impact or work on their strategy in general. But we wanted to do more than influence change. So we set out to build something from the ground up. Fashion felt ripe for change. An industry we all love, but one weighed down by waste and unsustainable synthetic fabrics.
In 2018, what began as a side project sparked something bigger. We set out to prove that premium apparel and sustainability could not only coexist, but elevate each other by rethinking what clothing is made from. What emerged felt different. Fabrics drawn from nature, refined with intention, and elevated into something unexpectedly luxurious.

From Swiss wool to something new
We started where others had stopped. With Swiss wool. A remarkable natural material, largely forgotten and no longer woven into refined fabrics. We partnered with Swiss and Italian experts to develop it ourselves. That effort led to our first piece: the LANA coat. Designed with timeless Swiss simplicity, rooted in local craftsmanship, and built from the start for circularity. Made from just four biodegradable components, it set a new standard for what sustainable fashion could look and feel like. For us, it marked the beginning of everything that followed.

LEGNA redefined what comfort could mean
Then came the LEGNA T-shirt, made entirely from wood-based fibers and named the world’s first certified plastic-free garment. It reaffirmed our belief that sustainability doesn’t mean compromise. With its luxurious feel and breathable comfort, LEGNA quickly became a bestseller and a timeless staple that reflects everything we stand for.

The moment it started to feel real
Building on this momentum, we continued to explore new materials and ideas. In 2022, we introduced the MIUtec Iso Jacket, a fully recyclable, biodegradable performance jacket that redefined what circular design could achieve in outerwear. Recognized with the ISPO Award for most innovative product of the year, it embodied our commitment to thoughtful design, high performance, and sustainability without compromise.

The spirit of Lana lives on
The spirit that shaped our first LANA coat continues to guide us. It’s a desire to create something extraordinary through Swiss innovation, design, and craftsmanship. In every T-shirt we make, every fabric we develop, every seam we stitch, and every person who joins us, that purpose lives on.
